STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF  BLENDED LEARNING METHODS IN THE ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

ABSTRAK

In the 21st century, education should not only focus on one learning method (traditional learning). In the 21st century, learning that only focuses on traditional learning is considered inappropriate and left behind. However, traditional learning cannot be simply eliminated. This research is qualitative research with a narrative inquiry approach that studies a learning method that is quite popular in the 21st century, namely blended learning. Blended learning is a learning method that combines face-to-face learning with information and communication technology. This study studies how the implementation of blended learning and how students' perceptions are related to the implementation of the method in the classroom. This research focuses on one of the skills in English, namely listening. Therefore the researcher involved students in an extensive listening class in one of the English departments in Pekalongan by taking 3 students as resource persons. In its implementation, the teacher of the extensive listening class uses the enriched virtual model from Horn and Staker (2012) which gets positive and negative responses from students.
