ABSTRAK

Song have an important role in the development of children learning a second learning. It also can be considered a valuable pedagogical tool particularly to help learners improve vocabulary mastery. This study aimed to see the benefits and implementation of teaching English animal vocabulary using a modified popular song for elementary school students at the Bimbim Barakallah tutoring center. The research employed qualitative method, through action research. In this study, the researcher takes the data from observation, and from documentation. This research was conducted at the tutoring center "Bimbim Barakaallah" in Jrakahpayung, Batang. The majority of tutoring members are second graders at SDN Jrakahpayung. This study includes ten children as participants. The result of the study showed that there are 5 benefit of teaching English animal vocabulary using modified popular song, as follow; Song make, 1. elicit good feelings for students, 2. increase motivation for students, 3. lessen anxiety by making the environment amusing and entertaining, 4. encourage listening for students, and 5. encourage the students to feel more interested and involved in the English classroom. And as part of the implementation of teaching English animal vocabulary using a modified popular song, three activities were carried out: a preactivity (warming up), the main activity (presenting), and the closing activity (reflecting). Finally, the use of a modified popular song as a medium for teaching English animal vocabulary can help students increase their vocabulary, remember new vocabulary easily, and memorize it quickly.
