THE USE OF PICTURES SERIES IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
ABSTRAK
The students have difficulty mastering writing skills. The difficulty is not only to generate and organize ideas, but also to translate these ideas into text that can be read. In the teaching and learning process, students have difficulty writing recount text. This difficulty is because students do not have ideas for writing so that they have difficulty in composing words and students' low understanding of the use of grammar and punctuation in a recount text. The researchers tried to solve the problem with 2 problem formulations, How do junior high school students engage in writing recount text using picture series? and What are the students' perception of writing recount text using picture series?. This research is a class action research according to the method of Kemmis and McTaggart. This study used observation, interviews, and documentation techniques to obtain data. The contribution of this research is to engage students to participate in learning and write recount texts using picture series media. The researcher took a sample of 5 students to be interviewed from grade 8 in junior high school. The results of the study show that the use of picture series in writing recount text produces a positive perception from students, they are able to increase their new vocabulary, being more enjoy/spirit, being easier to understand the material, being more active, students can imagine and express their writing and students can improve their pronunciation.
